Fiona Apple was born on 13th September 1977 is a Grammy-winning American singer-songwriter. She gained popularity through her 1996 album Tidal, especially with the single "Criminal" and its music video. Her music is influenced by everything from early jazz, pop, to alt-rock. It is also characterized by Apple's candid personal lyrics and imaginative productions, often featuring idiosyncratic arrangements with instruments as varied as the french horn and optigan.

"Criminal," the third single, became Apple's breakthrough hit. The song reached the top forty on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, while the controversial Mark Romanek-directed music video ? in which a scantily-clad Apple cavorted in a '70s-era tract house ? became very popular on MTV. Apple later said: "I decided if I was going to be exploited, then I would do the exploiting myself"

It did not fare as well commercially as her debut, though it was an RIAA-certified platinum album and sold 1 million copies in the U.S. The album's lead single, "Fast as You Can", reached the top 20 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart and became Apple's first Top 40 hit in the UK. The videos for two follow-up singles, "Paper Bag" and "Limp" (directed by then-boyfriend Anderson), received very little play.

Apple recorded a cover of "Sally's Song" for the special edition release of the soundtrack, released in 2006, for the Tim Burton film The Nightmare Before Christmas. In May 2006 Apple paid tribute to Elvis Costello on VH1's concert series Decades Rock Live by performing Costello's hit "I Want You"; her version was subsequently released as a digital single.

Juliette Lewis was born on 21th June 1973, in Los Angeles, California, USA, Lewis was the daughter of film and television player Geoffrey Lewis and mother Glenis, a graphic artist, who had seven marriages and 11 children between them. Lewis wanted to be an actor from the time she was six, and when she was a teen she landed her first "daughter" roles in the Showtime.

The following year she gave a breakout performance as the thumb-sucking nymphet struggling for independence from her warring parents in Martin Scorsese's chilling remake of "Cape Fear" (1991), which earned her an Academy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actress.

Lewis was back on the road in Oliver Stone's satirical take on the media,"Natural Born Killers" (1994), where she shared sociopathic tendencies with fellow love-thug Woody Harrelson during a Southwest killing spree. To her credit, Lewis ably captured the frighteningly odd emptiness of her character's moral inattention.

She resurfaced with a vengeance in "Whip It" (2009), Drew Barrymore's directorial debut in which Lewis co-starred as the coach of a female roller-derby teen and the terrifying archrival of a newcomer on the circuit (Ellen Page). With its all-star cast of favorite indie film actresses, the film positioned Lewis to regain her big screen visibility and remind viewers of her fiery onscreen appeal.

Terminator Actor Schwarzenegger recycled an old gag T-shirt while exercising in Santa Monica on Sunday. As the photo (originally at TMZ) shows, the former California governor and actor, 64, donned a shirt that read "I survived Maria" on the back.

On the front of the shirt the dates "2007-2010" appear, but "2007" is crossed out, replaced with "1977.""Maria" would be Maria Shriver, his wife of 25 years, whom he began dating back in 1977.

He and 55-year-old Shriver, of course, are headed for divorce following his admission of a secret 13-year-old love child with former housekeeper Mildred "Patty" Baena.

But Schwarzenegger's choice of T-shirt wasn't quite as cruel as it sounds. TMZ reports that he received the clothing item last November during a farewell party for the Governor's staff.

Despite the shocking drama, the former couple (they announced their split this May) are on good terms as they work through their divorce.

Last month the pair banded together last month as their youngest son Christopher, 13, was hospitalized following a serious surfing accident.

The family -- which also includes son Patrick, 17, and daughters Katherine, 21, and Christina, 19 -- was also all together for a lunch in honor of the patriarch's July 30 birthday.

Christina Milian was born on 26th September 1981 in Jersey City, New Jersey, United States. NJ to Cuban immigrants Don and Carmen Flores. The oldest of three daughters, Milian’s family moved to Maryland shortly after her birth. After figuring out early on that acting was in her blood.

The budding actress soon exhausted all of the opportunities Maryland could offer, so Carmen Flores, realizing her daughter’s potential, moved to Los Angeles with her three daughters when Milian was only 13 years old. Milian’s father stayed behind in Maryland. Moving to Los Angeles ended up making the singer’s dreams come true, but they came at a price.

Milian lent her considerable vocal talents to a small role in the animated feature “A Bug’s Life.” The following year, the attractive actress landed another small part, playing the unlikely role of a band geek in the hit teenage gross-out feature film franchise, “American Pie” (1999). As any struggling actress, she continued adding small roles to her resume, guest appearing on television.

Going back to her first love, Milian returned to the big screen in the teenage horror flick “Pulse” (2006) – a teen horror flick about a group of college students being terrorized by evil spirits living in computers. The film also starred Kristen Belle of “Veronica Mars” (WB 2004- ) fame and was penned by horror legend Wes Craven.

Kelly Rowland had a double nip slip during a performance Sunday in West Orange, NJ. The 30-year-old former Destiny's Child member was wearing a revealing, bra-like top that rode up during her performance.

Despite inadvertently revealing herself, the singer, who will be a judge on this season's X-Factor in the UK, seemed in good spirits.

"New Jersey crowd was amazing," she tweeted Sunday. "Hope you enjoyed the show and didn't mind the peekaboo.

LOL... Stuff happens."On July 26, Rowland reunited with her former bandmates Beyonce and Michelle Williams for the launch party of her third solo album Here I Am.

"The inspiration [for the album] was feeling like a woman now, like a grown-ass woman and wanting to express every side of that," she told Us Weekly. "I even tapped into more of a sensual side."

Leighton Meester was born on 9th April 1986 in Marco Island, Florida. She Claire Meester is an American actress, best known for her role in the book-based TV show Gossip Girl.

She is best known as Savannah in the former NBC drama Surface. Other roles include guest starring as "Debbie Pendleton" on Season 4 of the FOX drama 24, as "Ali" in episode 3 and 4 of Season 3 of the FOX drama House, as "Carrie Bishop" on Season 1 of the UPN drama Veronica Mars.

She made her film debut in the feature Hangman's Curse, based on the best-selling novel by Frank Peretti. She also recently starred in the independent film Flourish with future House co-stars Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer, and in the drama Inside.

She is co-starring as Blair Waldorf in The CW's Gossip Girl, from Josh Schwartz, creator of The O.C. and based on the book series about the lives of New York's two privileged Upper East Side girls.

Leighton Meester is involved in a catfight, but it’s not in her CW show “Gossip Girl.” Instead, it’s in the courts. She & Mom Battle struck first, filing a lawsuit in Superior Court of Los Angeles on Friday against her mother, Constance Meester, accusing her mom of taking money she sent for her younger brother, who suffers from various illnesses, and using it for cosmetic improvements.

She claims in her suit that she began voluntarily paying for health insurance for her mother and her brother, Lex, and sent Constance around $7,500 a month for her younger sibling’s living and other expenses.According to the actress’ suit, she believes her mother “has been using the money… to pay for cosmetic procedures for herself, including plastic surgery on her face and stomach, botox injections for her face, fillers for her hands and hair extensions.

She claims that after she stopped sending money to her mom, Constance began claiming the two had an oral agreement for the actress to support her at a sum of $10,000 a month for the rest of her life. The “Gossip Girl” star wants a judgment to determine there is no oral agreement, an award of legal fees over this suit and any other monies the court awards.

Other complaints, claiming the actress broke off an oral agreement to pay her an initial sum of $30,000 plus another $10,000 a month plus health insurance, and care for her younger brother’s health needs.“As a direct result of Leighton’s breach,” Constance’s filing reads, “there are no funds to feed and care for Alexander.

Leighton Meester goes on to claim the actress promised to take care of Constance and Alexander, pay for his school and buy them a home.Constance is seeking an undisclosed amount of damages at a trial.

Taylor Swift must have been really sick from bronchitis to cancel several shows on her Speak Now tour. No worries, though, because just three weeks later, the 21-year-old was back on stage singing the last of four sold-out performances in Newark, New Jersey.

But just as Speak Now is a very different album than Fearless, her current tour is a departure, too," the newspaper wrote. "With it, she is taking two steps toward in her future as an artist. She made both strides with confidence."

She had been on the road since February, and she's not scheduled to get a break anytime soon. Her tour continues in the United States through November. Look for Swift to hit Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Thursday, and Indianapolis on Friday.

Isabel Lucas was born on 29th January 1985 in Melbourne, Australia. She also had stints in Switzerland, Kakadu, and Australia's Northern Territory. She has a Swiss mother and an Australian father and speaks German and French in addition to her native English. Lucas went to a high school named Quakers Hill High in Sydney, Australia.

She auditioned for the role of Kit Hunter in Home and Away although the producer of the show, Julie McGauran, felt that role was not right for Isabel, she was sufficiently impressed to have a new character, Tasha Andrews, created for her. Lucas won a Logie Award (for new popular talent) for her performance on the program.

She has been cast as Gwen in the Steven Spielberg World War II miniseries, "The Pacific". She also appeared in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" as Alice. In a recent article, Lucas refused to speculate on her latest casting.

She dated her former Home & Away co-star Chris Hemsworth until June 2006. She dated American actor Adrian Grenier during 2008, but they split up in August. She suffered a minor head injury in July 2008 in a car accident while she was a passenger in "Transformers" co-star Shia LaBeouf's car. She was not seriously injured, but he was cited with a misdemeanour DUI.

Elizabeth Smart was born on 3rd November 1987 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is the second of six children born to Lois and Ed Smart, both devout members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her mother is a homemaker and her father is a highly successful real estate developer.

She was sought out to perform as a harpist at local weddings and funerals, and she played numerous recitals—including opening for the Utah Symphony under Salt Lake City's Capitol Rotunda. Smart was also a skilled equestrienne and distance runner who was training to compete in cross-country racing when she reached high school.

She and her family attended an end-of-year awards ceremony at her school, where she won several awards for academics and physical fitness. Early the next morning, about an hour after midnight, Smart was awakened in the bedroom she shared with her younger sister Mary Katherine by the sound of footsteps and the feeling of cold metal against her cheek.

After several months, it suddenly occurred to Mary Katherine that the kidnapper resembled a man who had once worked on their home as a handyman and who had called himself Immanuel. Police discovered that Immanuel was a man named Brian David Mitchell, and in February 2003 America's Most Wanted aired his photograph. Finally, on March 12, 2003, a passerby recognized Mitchell walking with Smart—who was veiled and wearing a wig and sunglasses.

In Saudi Arabia, women cannot drive or vote, glimpsing equality only during vacations away from the kingdom. But many women in Islamic countries long ago broke through the image of the black-veiled wife peeking from behind courtyard walls.

Singer Taylor Swift's new song, Mine, arrived on iTunes yesterday, almost two weeks ahead of schedule because the song was leaking on the Web.

"Do you remember we were sitting there by the water?/ You put your arm around me for the first time/ You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter/ You are the best thing that's ever been mine," Swift sings.

She's "developed this pattern of running away" when relationships turn to love and get serious. But she added that the song is also about "finding someone who would make you believe in love and realize that it could work out."Country's Night to Rock, hosted by Tim McGraw, airing Sept.1..............

Friday, October 16, 2009

American country pop singer and actress Taylor Swift hosts "Saturday Night Live" on Nov. 7 and she seems to have Kanye West in her crosshairs.

"I've been thinking about skit ideas for a long time," the 19-year-old Swift said. "There are definitely some hilarious things that have happened to me over the past couple of months that I think will be pretty substantial skits."

One of those things happened at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 13, when West interrupted Swift while she was accepting a trophy for best female video.

West thought Beyonce was robbed. As a result, he stole Swift's moment to shine. He later apologized.
Before Swift hits the stage at the 35-year-old late-night skitfest, she's performing on "Dancing With the Stars" on Oct. 27, no doubt hoping that no one will upstage her on this occasion.

All that will likely be material for the creative minds at "SNL."

Her career record sales now top 10 million albums and 20 million paid song downloads.

She has been nominated for four CMA Awards, including Entertainer of the Year, the youngest artist in history to be honored. She has had five No. 1 singles on country charts and two consecutive No. 1 songs on the pop charts.
